Join us for a special day on the theme: From Inner to Outer Peace, on Sept 21, 2016, the International Day of Peace. In the Hebrew calendar this day is “Chai Elul” the 18th of Elul, the birthday of the Baal Shem Tov and Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the founders of Chasidism.
We will gather, Jews, Christians, and Muslims, Israelis and Palestinians for an afternoon and evening of teachings and meditations to take place in a meeting room with no religious symbols, in the Old City near the meeting point of the Christian, Muslim and Jewish quarters at the Lutheran Redeemer Church in the Old city.

12:30- 1:15: Sufi practices for personal growth, Sheikh Ghassan Manasra

2:00-2:30 How spiritual practice can empower us as seekers of peace, Mordechai David and Elina Naseck
2:30-2:45 Break, get to know one another
2:45-3:30 Break into circles: What practices bring me inner peace? Are we empowered to work for outer peace? Facilitated by Eliyahu McLean and Abdel Salaam Manasra
3:30-4:00 What about Justice? Can we talk about peace with injustice around us? Daniel Aqleh, Evangelical minister, Bethlehem
4:00-4:30 Integrating the inner and outer, practical steps to becoming more whole, Shahabduddin David Less
4:30-5:00 The Aramaic tradition and prayers for peace, Syrian Orthodox priest Abuna Moshe
5:00-5:30 Jewish meditation, guided practice by Rabbi Yankala Shemesh
5:30-6:15 Pathways to Inner and Outer Peace in the Catholic tradition, led by Father Russ McDougall from Tantur with Sisters Trudy and Rita, Sisters of Zion
6:15-6:30 Snacks and sharing
6:30-7:00 Closing circle: Music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach with Rabbi Yankala Shemesh, Sufi Zikr with Muslim Sufi teacher

We will gather at 11:45 at Jaffa Gate and walk down together to Redeemer. If coming later, enter the offices of the Lutheran Redeemer on Muristan Road in the Old City. No need to enter the church, from office entrance walk to the meeting room, a room with no religious symbols, “kosher” for all religions to meet in.
